The ADHD Foundation have reported that Alastair Yates has died aged 66.

They said:-

"Our condolences to family, friends & all at @AdhdRichmond on the sad news about Alistair Yates - Chair of ADHD Richmond & former news broadcaster.
Thank you for your support for ADHD. You were a true gentleman; a kind man, a good friend. We will  all miss you so much"

BBC News Presenter Simon McCoy wrote:- "Alastair Yates was a great friend and a great colleague - at Sky News and the BBC. A real loss to broadcasting. And a real loss for those of us who loved him."

BBC Reporter Quentin Sommerville wrote:- "Alastair was a gent, a very kind colleague. Always encouraging. Very sad news."

Nick Bryant (BBC Correspondent) wrote:- "Very sad news about Alastair Yates - a pioneer of British rolling news, the prime time face of ⁦BBCWorld⁩ in America for years, and one of the gentlemen of our industry . A true pro with the most velvet of voices."

Alastair was born in Burton upon Trent. From 1973 he worked for various media outlets, including SKY, where he was the first male presenter on SKY News.

Alastair also worked for Anglia TV, Grampian TV, as well as the BBC in The Midlands.

He began his broadcasting carreer in BBC Local Radio at Derby, Leicester and Birmingham.

He had been a presenter on BBC World News and the BBC News Channel.
