Title: Far from the Madding Crowd
Post by WG on Aug 21st, 2017, 1:06pm

Excellent film for cinema last night on BBC1, except for much of the time I could hardly decipher speech from music. At one point around 40 mins in I could have sworn that the speech was "peaking" at the same level as the incidentals.
It was a BBCFilm. On checking IDMB I see there were no fewer than 18 credits for those involved with sound. Splendid! :-[

I agree entirely. The sound seemed to improve after about 20 minutes in. I was listening in 5.1 surround.

The first part had unecessary and loud music, I thought.

In my day there would have been a location sound crew of two, an editor and assistant, and then a dubbing mixer and assistant.
