Maggie Harwood, family friend of one-time BBC Production Designer Barry Newbery has requested that I pass on the news of Barry's death a couple of days ago. He was 88. No details of funeral arrangements have yet been released. Maggie Harwood is happy to be contacted by long lost colleagues:

Sorry to read this. I worked briefly with Barry on "The Lost Boys", tv mini series produced by Louis Marks. A real professional. I remember he used to notice and pick up any little screws, washers and so on he found on the ground, and said you wouldn't believe how many you could accumulate that way. As a result of that conversation I now have several jam jars full too!
