Former Manager of BBC Radio Stoke, Sandra Chalmers, has died in London. She suffered a major stroke and never recovered consciousness.

Dinah Garrett tells us that this will take place at St, John's Waterloo, Waterloo Road, SE1 8TY on February 20th at 1230 with a reception afterwards at the church until 1430.
The committal will have taken place earlier in the morning with only the family present.
The family will organise the flowers and any donations please to the Stroke Association, Stroke Association House , 210 City Road, EC1 V2PR

This BBC News page marks BBC Radio Manchester's 40th birthday.

It mentions that Sandra read the first news heard on the radio station.

"The first voice on air was Alan Sykes and the 10am news was read by Sandra Chalmers".
