Title: BH Christmas get together
Post by aashton on Nov 1st, 2011, 9:46am

The annual party for former Broadcasting House news and current affairs staff will take place on TUESDAY DECEMBER 13th at the usual venue, the Calthorpe Arms, 252 Grays Inn Road, WC1 X8JR. Nearest tube stations - Chancery Lane and Russell Square. It will be in the upstairs private room from noon until 4pm. Admission is FREE with a pay bar and hopefully a small buffet for the hungry, which will include me.
All welcome.
Come along and share stories and memories with your former colleagues. (Alan Ashton and Barry Rocard, joint organisers).

Barry and I as co-organisers thought it was a very successful reunion this year - probably the best ever. Thirty-three people turned up if you counted one who arrived at 4.05, the "do" officially finishing at 4pm.
The oldest person there was Bob Tapsfield, former newsroom and Today in Parliament editor, who is 85. Alec Kirby, former correspondent, came for the first time and enjoyed it so much, he vowed to be back next year. We could do with some more ladies turning up - only three this year, two former secretaries from the newsroom and Sue Bonner, producer on Today and WATO and who worked with Ian Mitchell (also present) in the Brussels office.
Former editor, Larry Hodgson, who now lives in Spain, provided the money for an ample buffet as he has done for the past few years. Thanks again for your generosity Larry. And thanks too for all who turned up. We expect even more next year as several sent their apologies and regrets.
Alan Ashton.
