For all those who may have known and worked with Alannah over the 35 years she was at the BBC. I am very sad to announce that she died on the 21 April 2011 after a short fight against cancer.

Alannah was cremated on the 6 May at Reading Crematorium.

We were sorry to hear about Alannah's death, I worked with her for several years and saw her at our reunions.

I was very sorry to hear of the death of Alannah Hensler. I joined the BBC in 1976 and worked in R2 Light Entertainment Manchester. I dealt with Alannah over the years and also met her a few times at the Radio 2 parties at the Paris Studios, London. Although I had my "hand slapped" by her on a few occasions, I had great admiration and respect for her. A real BBC character.
