Title: Re: COLD WAR(1980s): WARTIME BROADCASTING SERVICE Post by Richard_Lamont on Nov 5th, 2005, 7:24pm Try http://www.bbc.co.uk/foi/ I got some cold war stuff about WTBS from the BBC this way, eventually. Initially they turned my FoIA request down entirely, citing the section 24 exemption relating to 'national security'. When I pointed out some 47 files in the National Archives on the topic, of which 33 were open, from half a dozen government departments, they had a rethink and changed tack. So far the stuff they have released is mostly over 30 years old and covers roughly the same ground as the NA files, most of which were open pre-FoIA under the old 30-year rule. I'm sure they could release a lot of more recent stuff as well, and I think they probably will. I know someone else who put in an FoIA request about 1980's BBC facilities in the Shipton RGHQ and got a pile of technical drawings about it. |
