The BBC has appointed a firm of headhunters to draw up a field of candidates to succeed Greg Dyke as Director General.

BBC Board of Governors - Recruitment of the Director-General

The BBC's Board of Governors has established a Nominations Committee to oversee the initial stages of the appointment of the Director-General.

The Committee, chaired by Dermot Gleeson, will recommend a shortlist of candidates to the full Board.

They will work closely with Stephen Dando, Director BBC People.

Following the appointment of the new Chairman, the full Board will oversee the final stages of the appointment process.

The Executive search firm, The Zygos Partnership, has been retained to assist with the appointment, which will be advertised internally and externally between 7th - 14th March.

The other members of the Nominations Committee are Dame Pauline Neville-Jones, Merfyn Jones and Deborah Bull.
