Hi everyone, I'm sorry to say that Eileen Mullen passed away on Friday (5/12/25) after a long period with Alzheimer's. She was 86. Eileen worked at the BBC for around 20 years, in press and publicity. Among other roles, she was Chief Press and Publicity Officer at the World Service, working closely with John Tusa. I remember her taking me home for Christmas in the fully emblazoned BBC Radio Car - very exciting for a young nephew! She was also a stalwart (and the first female president) of the Bushmen.

The funeral will be a celebration of her amazing life and energy. It will be near Swindon or Cheltenham, date tbc. Please pass on this information to anyone who might have known Eileen, and feel free to contact me on steve.westlake@gmail.com, 07793 143093. Steve Westlake (nephew of Eileen Mullen).
