David Whitson passed away suddenly yesterday at the age of 85.

David had a varied career as a cameraman (DOP) in the BBC Film Department at the Television Film Studios.

David worked on several dramas which had a nautical connection, such as The Voyage of Charles Darwin, Shackleton and Moonfleet reflecting his interest in sailing.

After retirement, he took up painting, again with a nautical theme. His work can be seen here:
