Derek Herd the former Head of Finance and Personnel at BBC East, Norwich, died on Monday, January 28th. His funeral will be held at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium, Sheffield on Friday, February 15th at 2.45 p.m. Enquiries to Peace Funerals 01142 530505.

Derek was originally based in Birmingham (Carpenter Road) and assistant to John McQueen. During the 1960s he made regular visits to the Norwich studios when they were part of the Midland Region, and around 1970 he was promoted to the HF&P post when it was newly established at Norwich.

After his retirement he became an administrator at a local medical practice for several years, then later moved to Sheffield to be nearer his family.
