According to "The Daily Telegraph"..

"The BBC will this week announce far-reaching cuts to its website, after coming under pressure from ministers to rein in “soft news” content such as magazine articles, recipes, and travel advice.

Lord Hall of Birkenhead, the director-general, will announce on Friday that the corporation’s website “cannot be all things to all people”, and will pledge to create clear boundaries about what the BBC will not do online, after George Osborne criticised the broadcaster’s “imperial ambitions”."

Of course it's ridiculous for every programme to have it's own website.

My view though is that the BBC News -on line-will NOT benefit by being further filled with video clips-that's what a TV is for isn't it?
In any case-BBC News editorial content is excellent and constantly "trailed" during the main TV bulletins.
I know it irritates broadsheet newspaper owners that people get their news on iPads/PCs etc--but that's the way of the world. BBC News and Sky News are two of my favourite sites. More please.
