Roy McHardy, a stalwart of the BBC and the NUJ, has died. Roy had worked at Bush House and BBC Scotland but eventually became the full-time BBC staff representative at the NUJ. In this role he negotiated on behalf of union members up and down the UK. He was recognised on both sides as a tough but pragmatic negotiator who was always looking to reach agreements favourable to his members.
