Title: New recruitment policy
Post by Administrator on Apr 28th, 2016, 9:56pm

According to the BBC News site, here,

"Staff joining the BBC will be asked about their socio-economic background, as part of a bid to increase diversity at the corporation.
Candidates will be asked if they were entitled to free school meals, and if their parents attended university."

Instead of "diversity" it should read "to enable further dumbing down." How on earth is asking if a person received free school meals or not going to select the best candidate for the darn post?
Dave.

I would love one of the wonks who devise this sort of stuff to sit down and define "socio-economic background". A meaningless and therefore irrelevant phrase if ever I heard one. In my 25 years at the BBC I cannot recall that my ability to work with people was coloured by my upbringing or theirs.
