John Whittingdale announced an independent review during a speech at the RTS Convention in Cambridge.

Sir David Clementi has been appointed to chair the review into "how the BBC is governed and regulated".

Sir David Clementi - is former Chairman of Virgin Money and Prudential, and previously a Deputy Governor of the Bank of England.

John Whittingdale was appointed Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport on 11 May 2015.
