Title: BBC Four to close?
Post by Administrator on Sep 5th, 2015, 8:57pm

According to "The Sunday Telegraph" (Sunday 6th September), "BBC Four is facing closure as corporation focuses on drama".

The newspaper's Deputy Political Editor Steven Swinford writes..." BBC Four may be shut down as the corporation announces plans to focus its money on developing high quality dramas such as Poldark, Wolf Hall and Sherlock.".

The article may be found here.

Interesting article--but I suspect it has been taken out of context. I would expect Lord Hall's speech to heavily applaud Iplayer and on line viewing as the future way forward-in which case much of BBC 4's excellent and highly praised output will still be "available". However the case for closing down both tv and radio channels to save money is strong now that Iplayer is so easily accessible.
