The text of Rona Fairhead's speech to the Royal Television Society on the 3rd Feb, may be seen here courtesy of the BBC Trust.

The Trust makes the following points very clear:-

"If The BBC is to deliver on its mission and its purposes, a critical ingredient is confidence".

"The Charter debate must include the voices of all the people who pay for the BBC".

"The BBC doesn't belong to the state... the BBC should be kept out of politics as far as possible".

It includes a link to an ICM poll of 2111 members of the BBC Trust On-Line Panel carried out between 25/11/14 and 4/12/14
