Title: Toxic BH Extension
Post by Mikej on Jun 1st, 2014, 10:15am

I had heard stories about this while chatting to a TVN man in town on Friday but here is more.
Again - ever so sorry about the source - just ignore the comments at the bottom!

I remember working in very poorly ventilated radio studios-late 60's/70's- unfresh  "drinking water", the ashtrays(yes!) brim full, the studio tables, control panels, jack plug cables etc badly in need of a deep clean. You caught every bug going-but we struggled on regardless-all through the day and night!
Bush House was the winner in grossness, not to mention the appalling washrooms/loos-but it has fond memories

I worked in a mobile video tape van that used to be parked in what we called the tunnel in BH Glasgow. It gave access to tech stores etc. but it was right next to the ventilation output of the main TV studio. Always nice and warm though! Also worked a Keller 6 track dubbing machine installed in a room that was originally without any form of ventilation. Eventually installed but one sm in particular in the mixing suite next door would keep switching ventilation off because noise was audible. Lungs still working though! Put that down to motorcycling.
