Title: DSAT BBC1HD breakup
Post by Dickie Mint on Feb 25th, 2014, 2:02pm

For most of yesterday, Monday 24th Feb, DSAT BBC1HD was affected by a worsening breakup of sound and pictures problem.  It started in the morning as very short sound glitches, ending up with frequent vision and sound breakup.

Seemingly culminated in a "fix" 3/4 way through "Silk" with a complete loss of signal.

From perusal of other forums it seemed isolated to DSAT, DTT BBC1HD was reported as OK.  Now chances are this was in the uplink distribution chain, and out of the BBC's control.

But there were no apologies, and BBC Reception Advice website doesn't acknowledge it either.

Bad Show!  Wouldn't have happened in the old days.....

Richard

Dead right Richard. The old service reports would have been flying left, right and centre!

The BBC's reply:
" We understand you were experiencing issues with your satellite reception on 24 February.

From approximately 19:50 to 22:40 a problem arose which led to flashes in vision with glitches in sound at 5 to 10 minute intervals on Digital Satellite and Freesat platforms for viewers watching BBC One HD England.

The issue was diagnosed as a fault in the signal path and was resolved as soon as possible.

We're sorry for any inconvenience or annoyance caused."

So who didn't notice it until 1950?

Very useful-thanks
What happened to apologies or on screen warnings? What do Presentation actually DO these days ...surely they must all be on "MP3" and above salaries and are capable of making operational management decisions.
I only stopped worrying that the fault might have been something to do with my set after I had switched back to SD from HD. Very good programme is Silk!

Useful HD!  Enables that quality check!

I've got Freeview as well as Freesat, so can revert to DTT if DSAT is playing up!

I think "presentation" are probably busy rehearsing their shouted interruptions to the credits at the end of a programme?
