Despite what it says in Prospero (30%) BBC Shops have informed me that the BBC Pensioners discount has been reduced to 10%.

"Unfortunately as of the 13th of December 2013 the BBC pensioners discount was changed to 10%. We apologise for any inconvenience."

Wouldn't it have been nice to have some warning!

Agree-especially since many pensioners might have actually spent money travelling to those premises with shops and wrestled their way past security etc etc..."was it worth the effort?"-they would be saying.

Oh you mean in the two or three shops that still exist!
Once upon a time there was a superb shop in Bush that carried BBC books along with loads of other decent publications - closed!
Then there was one in TC. OK I guess it made most of its money from visitors but at least it showed them BBC publications were available and existed until the place closed and tourists disapeared - closed.
There was a good one in BH reception - closed. It moved to a very superior shop in Margaret Street - closed.
I believe there were plans for one in Egton but it is now the home to One sort of TV studio - never opened.
It seems the only ones now are out in the regions or postal.
I suspect that even if one can be bothered, the postage cost outweighs any savings.
Well at least any profits from the mainly sponsored advertising magazine (sorry Radio Times) go to an independant company and not back into the BBC's coffers!

Mike, BBCShop.com have free postage and are competitive. The book I wanted "Tudor Monastery Farm" is £13.29 on amazon, £12.99 in the BBC Shop. So with 10% it's still cheaper!

just annoyed that I could have got 30% off.....

If you don't like using Amazon (which I don't on ethical grounds) try 'The Book Depository'. http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/aboutus#helpContent. They have 'Tudor Monastery Farm' for £13.19 and no delivery charges.

I noticed recently that there is a small shop in the ground floor café are of BH - on the Public Tour circuit. I haven't examined it close-up to see how much stock it carries though. Tunbridge Wells has an excellent shop in quite a small space which doubles as reception.

Re Radio Times-interesting that it is still the jewel in it's publisher's crown. I sense that will change-just like newspapers becoming viewspapers etc.. .
If I was in marketing--I would see an "Iplayer "magazine as an emerging winner-which focussed much more on self schedulable output rather than a rigid programme guide.
Radio Times would be still be available Of course-but I predict in five or so years it's numbers will be heavily declining. It's stupidly overpriced anyway....
