Title: No interest in 3D?
Post by Administrator on Jul 5th, 2013, 10:27am

According to Broadband TV News:-

"The BBC is to take a three-year holiday from the development of 3D programming with the corporation’s head of 3D admitting the UK public had not taken to the format."

BBC News carries the story here.

Perhaps the success, or lack of it, depends on your viewpoint.

I totally agree with this decision, the idea of 3D is a wasteful drain on the BBC's now even more depleted resources following the recent disgraceful waste of money on the  'Pensions' and  'leaving gifts' and the misguided Digital fiasco. Let's hope the Corporation can settle down to a period of just getting on with the job in hand to the best of their considerable abilities.

According to the latest available ratings figures, 21,000 (0.1%) watched the BBC Doctor Who 50th anniversary 3D broadcast via the red button.

"The BBC's final 3D broadcast for at least three years".
