Allan Woods - 1928-2012

I'd like to leave a short tribute to my Dad, who passed away last night. Dad was a Big guy. Gregarious, warm, really smart, talented and one of life's craftsmen.
Dad trained as an engineer and was in the wonderful position to get to work in BBC Scotland's Film Unit during the hey day of television through the 1960s.
He travelled the length and breadth of Scotland with a tight band of Film Unit colleagues.
In the mid-1970s, he set up a rostrum camera facility which he threw his heart and expertise into, programming early small computers as part of that work.
Dad sat at the centre of a wonderful extended family - five daughters and a son - with Violet, his wife of 62 years and my exceptional Mum.
I am deeply proud of the Big Man.
Me and my sisters will get together and have a drink to his memory.
