Prospero claims to be a newspaper. Surely we should therefore expect journalistic standards and BBC editorial values?

The latest issue consigns the only interesting bit of news - that pensioners are to lose right of access to BBC buildings - to the back page. The lead story seems to be an account of the Pension Visitors' Conference that reads a bit like a second form essay.

Or is it me?

It was farmed out to an independent publishing company some while ago. Some of us beefed about the complete waste of space using the front page for a photo was.

I haven't received mine yet, so looks like mail out is suffering cutbacks too.... Have to read the pdf version.

I'm not offering, not a journalist for a start!, but surely there are retirees who could be employed to write some or all of it? Or at least form a steering committee. There, that dreaded BBC word, committee....

In addition to the above why is it printed on something just short of cardboard and with the vilest smelling ink I have come across?

It is the resting ground for all and everything the BBC does not wish to highlight in Ariel-eg Obits.
Ediorially-it is currently nothing more than a cut'n'stick version of Ariel combined with truly awful essays from retirees about how much more fun life was in the good old days.

Access for pensioners is to be withdrawn from the end of next March. Harry, the BBC Club manager at TVC, tells me that they are working towards a similar closure date for the Club. Apparently we are a security risk.

The parting shot from the very pleasant lady on the reception desk was to tell me that pensioners will always be welcomed - if they are accompanied by a member of staff with a valid ID card. Thanks for that concession.

For RobR-It is for this reason that many pensioners have withdrawn their Club Membership.
