I would certanly not want to live in the "EAST TOWER"as a resident.
However, for 5 years in the early 70s I did for 12 hours a day 4 plus days a week. As a new junior member of Film Dept I worked in the Transfer Suite before going on the road as recordist.
I enjoyed most of it.
Especially I enjoyed what I considered an unbroken unofficial Guiness Book of Records entry (NOT) of transferring "CANNON" from 35mm optical sound track to SepMag so the advert overlays could be edited out.
In the quiet period after 7pm Geoff Webb and I loaded a 10 minute reel of the programme in projection, locked it to the recorder in Transfer and ran it. We then ran up one floor, over the bridge,up to the 4th floor..downed a pint of Guiness and got back to TC Transfer within 10 mins and loaded the next roll. We did this 5 times, downed 5 pints and completed the 50 minute programme within 60 mins. God.. Can't even drink a couple of pints in an hour now without the run (other than to the lou)

I had a brief sojourn there about that time. At an annual interview I expressed an interest in finding out what was on the other end of the fader marked TK and was given, I think, a 3 month attachment to film dept. For personal reasons it wasn't the happiest period of my life and I don't think I really made the most of it.

The names Dave Brett and Chopper Harris spring to mind.
