Title: BBC chooses AudioBoo for clips
Post by Administrator on Apr 20th, 2012, 7:53am

This is from "Advanced Television".

The BBC has chosen AudioBoo as an official partner for publishing web audio clips of its programming content. AudioBoo, which enables users to publish high-quality audio clips online instantly, has gained a loyal following among bloggers, radio stations and other media outlets looking to post conversations on the Internet. Users can post audio clips lasting up to three minutes for free on the site, but must pay for longer ones.

Several BBC producers already use AudioBoo’s service unofficially to post excerpts of their programmes online. The Today programme on Radio 4 gets about 20,000 listens to the 24 “boos” it posts each week.
The formalising of the relationship between technology provider and broadcaster will result in a series of branded BBC channels using AudioBoo, which the BBC hopes will broaden its audience reach worldwide.
AudioBoo has grown rapidly since its launch in March 2009. Every day about 200,000 people use it to listen to content created by about 3,000 users.

AudioBoo has received two rounds of funding to date. In June 2010, it raised £1m from UBC Media, Imagination Technologies and three angel investors. It received a second round last year from AudioGo, the audiobooks publisher, which raised its profile in the US.
