Title: Re: The Olympic Games............ Post by F.M. on Apr 20th, 2012, 1:04pm I was all set for a trip to the capital with my other half when I was informed this would clash with the olympics. I am gutted. London will be a nightmare for the duration. When I lived in Wimbledon the tennis fortnight for me at least was a thing I did not look forward to.No parking spaces no seat on the tube in either direction busy restaurants and bars!No thanks >:( |

Title: Re: The Olympic Games............ Post by Nick Rodger on Apr 30th, 2012, 10:46am I can't believe such negativity. Huge honour for the country, huge honour for London. Don't be such a bunch of "bah-humbug" grumpies. Sport is what the BBC has always done best, and if, due to political machinations, the money has dried up, at least The Olympics gives us all the chance to show the government, the country and the world why those three simple letters mean so much. Or you could all stick to your train sets and sudoko. |

Title: Re: The Olympic Games............ Post by John on Apr 30th, 2012, 1:18pm I think it was really unfortunate that the games were awarded to the UK. The money wasted on this circus could have been much better used putting right some of the political mistakes of recent years. It is almost obscene celebrating in this way when there are so many needy causes crying out for financial support. |

Title: Re: The Olympic Games............ Post by David Shute on Aug 2nd, 2012, 10:17am And the West End theatres and stores are suffering all because of this wasteful drug fest originally manipulated by ... wait for it .... surprise surprise .... A B Liar and his ghastly wife plus kerching, kerching, their dubious cohorts. At least the Forum poll puts in all in some sort of perspective! |

Title: Re: The Olympic Games............ Post by david en france on Aug 2nd, 2012, 11:47am If only it WAS the BBC doing the OBs, Nick!! (I mean the REAL BBC, not the privatised, sold-off bits). Some of the sound/vision standards are well below par. that terrible logo blitzing in between shots is giving me a migraine. And there are at least half a dozen commentators who could usefully learn when to shut up! Our mute button is being well used. |

Title: Re: The Olympic Games............ Post by david en france on Aug 4th, 2012, 6:08pm I had better admit it. I said in the poll I would not watch. But I am now in the grip of Olympic fever. Phew! But my own league tables are on the presenters and pundits. Jake Humphreys way out in the lead with Clare Balding close second, old mate Inverdale is Emeritus Professor, great stuff John! |

Title: Re: The Olympic Games............ Post by FoxyFace on Aug 13th, 2012, 4:47pm Dear Administrator What about an AFTER THE EVENT poll-questions like Did you watch? Did you enjoy? Were you impressed? Were you un-impressed-why? What did you like best? What did you like least? Should be BBC in future dedicate as much time to sport's coverage Were you able to avoid the BBC's Olympic coverage? etc |
