Title: 75th Celebrations at Alexandra Palace - 2 Nov 2011 Post by Simon Vaughan- APTS Archivist on Sep 2nd, 2011, 10:26am The 2nd November 2011 is the 75th anniversary of the worlds first regular high-definition public television service inaugurated at Alexandra Palace. The occasion is being marked by a FREE open day in the studios at the south-east wing of Alexandra Palace. Begins at 10.00am and closes at 8.00pm. Visitors can expect: Television history experts on hand throughout the day. Tours into the historic studio A throughout the day Displays of working vintage television equipment Previously unseen pre-war television footage Exhibition displays and audio-visual presentations in the former transmitter hall (later BBC Clib) on the ground floor. Also, (for star spotters) celebrity guests present at various times throughout the day. Access is via the front terrace adjacent to the BBC tower.
