Title: Andrew Dunn
Post by Administrator on Feb 9th, 2011, 3:26pm

This is taken from Ariel:

ANDREW DUNN

Andrew Dunn joined the BBC as a studio manager in 1978, working in World Service at Bush House.

Soon after joining he began a series of attachments with Outlook and the Science Unit, working as a reporter and scriptwriter.

During that period, he met his wife Romy, also an SM.

He went on to work for Topical Tapes, presenting the Science Magazine and Calling The Falklands.

During the first Gulf conflict, Andrew presented Gulf Link — the programme which carried messages to Kuwait from families in Britain.

Later, as a freelance, he produced a regular newsletter for Science in Action, covering every aspect of his subject with an engaging style which led to his becoming much in demand by producers.

After moving to York, he continued his freelance work, both in radio, and in the corporate world, whilst becoming heavily involved in his local community.

Parish councillor, producer of the Bishopthorpe Pageant, and a star in the village pantomime...his energy was undiminished.

Andrew died after a short illness at Christmas; he was 55. In the words of his widow: ‘Everyone knew a little bit of Andrew...very few knew the whole.’
