When will the BBC be forced or voluntarily go back to what it does best. BBC 1 BBC 2 (and maybe BBC3) plus Radio 1, 2, 3,4 and local radio. Forget all these "off the wall channels" and especially forget providing a free web service to the world. Use the money to produce programmes for UK viewers/ listeners as it was 20 years ago. :'(

Title: BBC Web site abroad

HMG, you should be aware that users of the BBC News Web-site have advertisemente- both banner, and static- to endure. We also have 30 second commercials before some news clips (when they work). Today its Korean Air. The income from these 'add-clicks' goes towards the licence fee. There are many pages that overseas viewers are not allowed to see. The BBC uses geo-location (IP addresss) to locate you,  and input (usually in-) appropriate adverts. The same technology us used to prohibit overseas use of iPlayer and its facilities.

UK readers- be grateful for what you have!

"Not available in your territory" appears very frequently.
